Learn how to properly introduce yourself to an adult.
Practice giving a firm handshake with a friend.
Remember to raise your hand when you want to speak in class.
KINDERGARTEN & 6th GRADE BUDDY ACTIVITY
Our sixth grade and Kindergarten students gathered together for a movie and snacks this week. The children really enjoyed the time spent getting to know one another even better!

BUDDY ACTIVITY/ Thanksgiving 2016
Kindergarten students and their 6th grade buddies shared in a Thanksgiving Feast that took place last week! Students had dessert with one another and spoke about things that they were most thankful for. Students stated that they were thankful for family, friends, pets, their teachers and so many other things. What a nice way to kick off the Thanksgiving weekend!
SADD FOOD DRIVE
Students from School One collected close to 1000 non-perishable food items as part of School One's annual SADD/PTA food drive! These items were transported to The Englewood Food Pantry, NJ. Needy families in Bergen County will certainly benefit from the generosity and kindness of the School One community.

Peer Mediation 2016
Sixth grade Students from Schools One and Four met on Wednesday, November 9 for an All Day Training Session on how to use and implement Conflict Resolution Skills. Students were taught various skills on how to help youngsters solve problems in a productive manner using the "win-win" model. An enjoyable day was had by all!
RESPECT ESSAY WINNERS 2016
The fifth grade was invited to participate in an essay writing contest as part of one of the many activities taking place during the Month of Respect. The assignment involved writing about a person that one respects and admires. School One is happy to announce the winners:

K-6 BUDDY PROGRAM
The Kindergarten students met their 6th grade Buddies this month. The sixth graders got to know their Kindergarten buddies through a "meet and greet" activity. This month the Buddies had fun selecting their pumpkins together. Once they chose their pumpkins, they proceeded to decorate them creatively. The children couldn't have been more delighted. These activities will continue throughout the year in order to help foster the relationships built upon trust and friendship by the K-6 Buddy Program.

RESPECT ESSAY CONTEST
Students in the 5th grade will be writing essays about a person that they respect and admire. This is another way in which School One is celebrating Respect during the month of October! The essays will be judged by a panel of teachers along with the guidance counselor/anti-bullying specialist!
